The decision to name the new college after Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, a prominent figure in India's independence movement and a proponent of Hindutva ideology, was approved by Delhi University's Executive Council in 2021. The college is projected to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹140 crore.
In addition to the educational projects, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate several development initiatives aimed at enhancing urban infrastructure and living conditions in Delhi. Among these is the inauguration of 1,675 newly constructed flats for residents of Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar. This project, part of the Delhi Development Authority's In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation initiative, seeks to provide a healthier living environment with proper amenities for the residents. Beneficiaries are required to contribute a nominal amount towards the cost, significantly subsidized by the government.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate two urban redevelopment projects: the World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar. The World Trade Centre replaces over 600 outdated quarters with modern commercial towers, offering approximately 3.4 million square feet of premium space and incorporating green building practices such as solar energy generation and rainwater harvesting. The GPRA project comprises 28 towers housing over 2,500 residential units, designed with eco-friendly features to promote sustainable living.
