Trinamool Congress has accused the Union government of neglecting its responsibilities concerning attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, emphasizing the need for decisive action instead of politicization. This criticism emerged as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal announced plans for a day-long border trade blockade at Petrapole. Trinamool’s comments spotlighted the growing tensions surrounding communal incidents in Bangladesh and their perceived implications for domestic politics.
Sougata Ray, a senior MP and spokesperson for Trinamool, questioned the government's silence over the incidents, which reportedly involved vandalism at Hindu temples and Durga Puja venues following an alleged blasphemy incident in Cumilla. Ray highlighted that this inaction is incongruous with the Prime Minister's past engagements, such as visiting temples in Bangladesh during election campaigns. Trinamool leaders further accused the BJP of exploiting these events for political gain, describing such tactics as “vulture politics.”
