Sambhal mosque survey report submitted after court extension

A court-mandated survey report concerning the Jama Masjid in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, has been submitted to the relevant judicial authorities following an extended deadline. The report, initially due on November 29, was postponed due to health issues cited by the Advocate Commissioner and logistical challenges. Subsequently, the court granted a ten-day extension, setting December 9 as the final deadline for completing the survey and related inquiries.

The survey was initiated as part of a legal dispute involving claims that the site of the Jama Masjid was previously a temple dedicated to the deity Bhagwan Kalki. This matter was brought to the court's attention by a group of plaintiffs led by Supreme Court advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain. The premises, considered a protected monument under heritage laws, became the focal point of intense legal and public scrutiny.

Amid heightened security measures, the survey was conducted under the supervision of Advocate Commissioner Ramesh Singh Raghav, who faced delays but assured the court of timely completion. The report has now been submitted in a sealed envelope, as per procedural norms. The survey team included legal representatives and law enforcement officers to ensure the integrity of the investigation and to maintain peace during the process.
