Maliwal’s allegations came after a visit to Kejriwal’s home earlier this week, where she stated that the Chief Minister's personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, physically and verbally confronted her. Following this, Maliwal called Delhi Police to report the incident, although she later refrained from lodging a formal complaint. The AAP has since openly supported Maliwal's claims, with AAP’s spokesperson alleging that the episode reflects a growing level of hostility orchestrated by the BJP, while also pointing to a pattern of attacks targeting the Chief Minister’s office and its associates.
Following Maliwal’s allegations, BJP representatives staged protests at Kejriwal's residence, demanding transparency in addressing the incident. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva accused the Chief Minister of remaining silent on the allegations and urged Kejriwal to allow a formal police inquiry. During the protest, BJP Mahila Morcha members called for swift accountability, accusing AAP of avoiding legal procedures and maintaining silence around internal disputes. According to Sachdeva, Maliwal’s reluctance to file a formal police report has raised suspicions of potential political motives, casting a cloud over AAP’s response to the incident.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) has issued an official statement, condemning the alleged assault and demanding an “immediate and thorough” investigation. The NCW has requested Delhi Police to submit an action-taken report within three days, indicating a strong stance on protecting women in official positions. Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, added to the tension, calling for national scrutiny by appealing to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who also serves as the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, to investigate the treatment of a sitting Rajya Sabha member at the residence of another elected official.
