A new initiative offering comprehensive health coverage to senior citizens aged 70 and above has been introduced by the Union Cabinet under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). This scheme, aimed at benefiting nearly six crore senior citizens, enhances India’s existing healthcare safety net by providing free health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh per year.
