Khan’s son Kasim Khan issued a public appeal stressing that his father has spent 845 days in custody and has been held in solitary confinement for six weeks with no contact allowed. He wrote that there have been no phone calls, no family visits, no meetings with legal counsel, and no independently verifiable information about Khan’s status. He described the enforced isolation as a deliberate attempt to hide what the family fears may be “something irreversible.”
Supporters of Khan’s party view the lack of transparency as a serious human rights concern and demand immediate proof of life. The allegations amplify broader unease over treatment of high-profile detainees and raise doubts about the transparency of the prison system. Khan’s daughters, including fellow party activists, have mounted repeated protest efforts outside the high-security prison in Rawalpindi, calling for clarity and access in line with court-ordered visitation rights.
Jail officials maintain that Khan remains incarcerated in Adiala Jail, under conditions they describe as normal, with access to healthcare and all required protocols. They reject the rumours about his death or serious mistreatment, calling those claims baseless. A PTI lawmaker recently contended that Khan’s seclusion may be aimed at pressuring him into leaving Pakistan — a claim the authorities deny.
