Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called on states, especially those bordering Pakistan and Nepal, to ensure the availability of essential goods and services and to keep relief and rescue forces on alert to handle any situation.
In a recent meeting with chief ministers and other officials, Shah emphasized the need for strict monitoring of anti-national propaganda on social and other media platforms. He instructed states to take prompt action against violators and to maintain seamless communication and security at vulnerable points.
The Home Minister also highlighted the importance of public participation in maintaining security and urged coordination between local administrations, the army, and paramilitary forces. He stressed that efforts should be made to prevent the spread of unnecessary fear among the public and to spread awareness against rumours.
The meeting was attended via video conferencing by the lieutenant governors of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and West Bengal, as well as senior officials from the home ministry, including Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan and Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka.
