Abdullah Heads to Jammu Amid Drone Attack Fallout

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah departed for Jammu on Friday morning to assess the aftermath of a failed drone attack allegedly launched by Pakistan. The Indian Army reported neutralising all incoming drones targeting Jammu city and nearby areas, including military installations in Pathankot and Udhampur.

Residents of Jammu described a night marked by blackouts, air raid sirens, and distant gunfire. Explosions were reported in Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, and Kupwara. The Defence Ministry confirmed that eight missiles were intercepted, with no reported casualties or damage.

In response to the heightened security situation, the Jammu and Kashmir government ordered the closure of schools for two days. Chief Minister Abdullah stated that the decision would be reviewed on Monday based on the prevailing conditions.

The Indian military's interception of over 50 drones across the Line of Control underscores the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Pakistan has denied involvement in the attacks and has accused India of initiating aggression.
