The Janata Dal (United) has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of hypocrisy regarding the caste census, highlighting his silence during discussions led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in INDIA bloc meetings. JD(U) working president and Member of Parliament Sanjay Jha stated that Gandhi remained silent when Kumar advocated for the caste census in several meetings of the opposition alliance.
This criticism follows Gandhi's remarks at a Patna event, where he labeled the Bihar government's caste survey as a "fake exercise" and called for a nationwide caste census. Jha emphasized that there "cannot be a bigger hypocrisy than this," noting that Gandhi did not voice his opinion when Kumar presented logical arguments in favor of the caste census during INDIA bloc meetings.
The JD(U) also questioned the Congress-led Karnataka government's delay in releasing the state's caste data. Jha challenged Gandhi to address this issue, asking, "Why does Gandhi not ensure its release?"
