Delhi's Monthly Financial Support Scheme for Women Set for Rollout Soon

Delhi is set to implement a pioneering monthly financial aid program aimed at supporting women over 18, under the "Mukhyamantri Mahila Samman Yojana." Announced by Delhi’s Finance Minister, Atishi, during her 2024-25 budget presentation, this scheme will grant each eligible woman Rs 1,000 per month, representing a crucial step toward enhancing women’s financial autonomy and social inclusion. The initiative aligns with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s commitment to uplift the welfare of women, allocating approximately Rs 2,000 crore to support this endeavor. With an eye on building what the Delhi government terms a "Ram Rajya," or ideal society, this scheme seeks to address essential financial needs for women, including education, skill development, and day-to-day expenses.

Under the scheme, eligible women will receive monthly support to ease the dependency on family resources. The policy has been framed to ensure broad accessibility, covering women from all walks of life—whether they are students, homemakers, or pursuing professional goals. Minister Atishi emphasized that the initiative aims to empower women by reducing financial constraints, allowing them greater freedom to engage in personal development activities or meet essential needs without external reliance.
