Prime Minister Narendra Modi on a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday highlighted the need for de-escalation of tensions in West Asia, reiterating their call for immediate release of all hostages and the ongoing provision of humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict.
Sharing a post on X, PM Modi expressed his gratitude towards
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his phone call and heartfelt
wishes on the occasion of India's 78th Independence Day.
"Appreciate PM Netanyahu’s phone call and warm wishes
on India’s 78th Independence Day. We discussed the current situation in West
Asia. Emphasized on the need to de-escalate the situation. Reiterated our call
for immediate release of all hostages, ceasefire and need for continued
humanitarian assistance." the prime minister wrote on X.
Earlier, PM Modi received a call from chief adviser and head
of the interim government of Bangladesh Mohammad Yunus during which they
discussed bilateral relations and the safety of Hindus and other minority
communities in violence-hit nation, where the prime minister reaffirmed India's
support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, and progressive Bangladesh.
"Received a telephone call from Professor Muhammad
Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh. Exchanged views
on the prevailing situation. Reiterated India's support for a democratic,
stable, peaceful and progressive Bangladesh. He assured protection, safety and
security of Hindus and all minorities in Bangladesh," PM Modi said in a
post on X.
The government also released a press release revealing
further details on the phone call which highlighted the importance of ensuring
the safety and protection of Hindus and other minority communities in
Bangladesh.
