Rahul Gandhi to Kick Off Congress's Delhi Campaign on January 13

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to launch the party's campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections with a public meeting in Seelampur on January 13. This event marks the beginning of Congress's efforts to regain influence in the capital, where it has faced significant challenges in recent years.

The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) has been actively preparing for the elections, focusing on reconnecting with grassroots supporters and addressing key public concerns. The party's "Nyay Yatra," a campaign initiative aimed at engaging with voters across all 70 constituencies, has been instrumental in identifying issues that resonate with the electorate. These insights have been incorporated into the party's electoral promises, including health coverage up to ₹25 lakh for every Delhiite and financial aid of ₹2,500 to eligible women, aiming to empower them economically.

In the lead-up to the elections, Congress has announced its first list of 21 candidates. Notably, senior leader Sandeep Dikshit has been fielded from the New Delhi constituency, positioning him against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and incumbent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. This strategic move underscores Congress's intent to challenge AAP's dominance in the capital. Additionally, DPCC president Devender Yadav will contest from the Badli constituency, reflecting the party's strategy to deploy prominent leaders in key battlegrounds.

The party's campaign will also feature chief ministers from Congress-governed states, including Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka, who are expected to visit Delhi to garner support for party candidates. This collaborative approach aims to showcase the party's governance models in other states as a blueprint for potential development in Delhi.

DPCC president Devender Yadav has dismissed concerns about the central leadership's involvement in the campaign, emphasizing the active participation of senior leaders in press conferences and public meetings. He stated that there is no resentment or lack of consensus within the party, highlighting a unified front as they approach the elections.
