Mahayuti Seat-Sharing Talks Reach Crucial Stage with Amit Shah

Political negotiations in Maharashtra are intensifying as the ruling alliance, known as the Mahayuti, prepares for a key meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to finalize seat-sharing agreements ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena (led by Eknath Shinde), and the Ajit Pawar-led faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) are expected to meet today to address disagreements over how the state's 48 parliamentary seats will be divided among the coalition partners.

With a backdrop of complex negotiations, the meeting is seen as critical, given Maharashtra's significance in national politics. BJP has traditionally held a dominant position in the state, but with its alliance partners each seeking a considerable share of the seats, particularly in areas like Vidarbha and Mumbai, the talks are poised to be pivotal.
