Supreme Court Rejects Arvind Kejriwal's Bail Plea in CBI Case

The Supreme Court has refused to grant interim bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) case involving the alleged excise policy scam. Despite arguments presented by Kejriwal's defense, citing health concerns, the bench led by Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan declined the request. The court has issued a notice to the CBI and scheduled further hearings for August 23. The decision comes after Kejriwal's earlier arrest by the Enforcement Directorate and a rejected bail plea by the Delhi High Court.

The excise policy in question was scrapped after allegations of corruption surfaced, leading to multiple investigations by central agencies. Kejriwal's arrest and the denial of bail are significant developments in this ongoing high-profile case, further complicating the political landscape in Delhi.
