Top leaders of the Indian Army convened in New Delhi to deliberate on the military’s future course and align with the government’s Vision 2047, a roadmap aimed at transforming India into a developed nation. This high-level meeting, led by Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, focused on enhancing the Army’s operational capabilities and strategic direction.
The discussions were centered around ongoing transformational initiatives within the Army, including theaterisation, reorganisation, and the realignment of command boundaries. Senior commanders from the Army’s seven commands participated in this crucial dialogue, which also addressed the importance of Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defense technologies and the promotion of indigenization in military procurement.
General Dwivedi emphasized the Army’s role in contributing to the broader national goal of making India a key global player by 2047. The leadership outlined several objectives to ensure that the Army evolves into a modern, agile, and technology-driven force. Key areas of focus included the development of multi-domain operational capabilities, logistics and ammunition infrastructure, and the automation and networking of systems.
Moreover, the meeting underscored the need for jointness and integration among the armed forces, alongside human resource development initiatives aimed at improving personnel effectiveness and leadership quality. The discussions are expected to continue, as the Army seeks to set a clear path towards achieving its Vision 2047 goals.
