Delhi Court Directs ED to Respond in Satyendar Jain Case

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) following a petition by former Delhi cabinet minister Satyendar Jain. Jain, currently in judicial custody, has sought a delay in proceedings at the trial court regarding charges filed against him. This move follows his contention that the ongoing investigation has procedural shortcomings.

The ED had arrested Jain in May 2022 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), linked to allegations of using shell companies for illicit financial activities during his tenure as a public servant. These allegations originated from a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR registered in 2017. While Jain previously secured bail in the CBI case, the ED continued its probe, leading to his current incarceration.
